Stainless Steel

2B
DP1 & DP2
MP1 & MP2 B/A
(See below for more detail)

Grade 304 resistant to degrading in a wide range of atmospheric conditions.

Grade 316 has enhanced corrosion resistance.

Grade 304 is the most commonly used.

Grade 316 is used for saline or chloride exposed environments e.g. costal and catering applications.

Grade 304 and 316 in a variety of finishes and thicknesses ranging from 0.5mm – 15mm

Mild Steel (or Carbon Steel)

CR4 – Bright mild steel has a smooth bright surface.

S275 (steel plate)

Relatively inexpensive. Low tensile strength so easily formed

Most commonly used metal. Used in a wide range of applications.

1mm – 20mm
CR4 -up to 3mm
S275 -up to 20mm

Shim Steel

See mild and stainless steel.

Dragon Laser has the facility and experience to profile a set of shims to very high tolerance and we offer some of the thinnest gauges on the market.

Used where precise packing is required to mount or position machinery or equipment.

Shim packs (mild and stainless steel) available in
0.05mm; 0.1mm;
0.25mm; 0.3mm;
0.4mm; 0.5mm

Hardox

Usually red in colour due to the manufacturers primer.

Unparalleled combination of hardness and toughness. Hardox wear plate sets the standard worldwide for abrasion resistant steel. It can also perform as a load-bearing part in many applications.

Parts that require high wear resistance.

10mm and 20mm (other thicknesses available on a free issue basis)

Aluminium

A silvery-white metal.

Marine grade (52/51) offers the benefits of strength and malleability, is lightweight and resists corrosion.

Aeroplane and train parts

Variety of thicknesses in 52/51. Other grades available on request.

Zintec

Distinctive matt grey/blue appearance.

Electro zinc Coated steel (Zintec) is a cold rolled material electrolytically coated with a thin layer of zinc. Zinc offers greater rust protection.

Rust protection that can be painted.

Up to 3mm on request.

Galvanized Steel

Bright spangled surface produced by the hot dip process of galvanizing.

Galvanised offers a high level of rust resistance.

Used where a painted finish is not required e.g. Gates and railings

Up to 3mm on request.

Stainless Steel finishes

2B/Mill Finish - plain, natural metallic.

DP1 – Dull polish on one side (Dull polish is a brushed finish with a more appealing look than Mill Finish)

DP2 – Dull polish on both sides.

MP1 – Mirror Polished finish that has a hazy reflective surface on one side.

MP2 – Mirror Polish finish on both sides.

B/A – Bright Annealed reflective surface to both sides but not as clear as mirror polished.
